Institute of Drug Dependencies

Bratislava

The Centre for Treatment of Drug Dependencies (CPDLZ) is the largest, central, specialised insitute in Slovakia intended for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and   follow–up care for those suffering from addiction of psychoactive substances.

The Centre is a state contributory organization founded by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic in 1992 on the basis of the former Teetotal Advisory Service. Due to reorganization, CPLDZ is today a highly effective multi–modal facility focussed on the question of legal and illegal addictive drug use. The philosophy of  the Centre is to serve all citizens regardless of race, gender, political; views or religion. The main goal is the health of the individual, but also the interests and needs of public health.

The personnel and the equipment of the Centre provide good opportunities for research, educational and informational activities. On January 1st, 1998, the Institute of Drug Dependencies (IDZ) was established by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic as an organizational part of the Centre. Today the Institute has three departments: the departments of Information, Education and Research. The Institute has carried out several research studies, as well as training and informational acitivities on national and international level.
