The Centre for Treatment of Drug Dependencies (CPDLZ) is the largest, central,
specialised insitute in Slovakia intended for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and
followup care for those suffering from addiction of psychoactive substances.
The Centre is a state contributory organization founded by the Ministry of Health of
the Slovak Republic in 1992 on the basis of the former Teetotal Advisory Service. Due to
reorganization, CPLDZ is today a highly effective multimodal facility focussed on
the question of legal and illegal addictive drug use. The philosophy of the Centre
is to serve all citizens regardless of race, gender, political; views or religion. The
main goal is the health of the individual, but also the interests and needs of public
health.
The personnel and the equipment of the Centre provide good opportunities for research,
educational and informational activities. On January 1st, 1998, the Institute of Drug
Dependencies (IDZ) was established by the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic as
an organizational part of the Centre. Today the Institute has three departments: the
departments of Information, Education and Research. The Institute has carried out several
research studies, as well as training and informational acitivities on national and
international level. |
